TWO CROOKED BUREAUCRATS got six years each in the slammer for pocketing more than $3,500,000.
This tax payer funded pair worked a con so selected companies got big buck contracts from the Transport and Infrastructure departments in Victoria. The selected companies paid the slimy pair kickbacks for the contracts. These two got caught but this scam raises some very serious questions.
Of the hundreds of thousands of public servants across Australia, how many more are on the game?
How much of our money is spent on inferior, even dangerous product, because some overpaid public servants are corrupt? We have dangerously neglected rural roads in Victoria but VicRoads will spend $4 billion over five years on wire rope barriers.
How do illegal kickbacks effect the decision making process when it comes to road building and road maintenance?
