Road Safety Plan
The City of Melbourne is developing its Road Safety Plan 2012-16 which aims to improve safety for all road users, particularly pedestrians, cyclists & motorcyclists.
We are Victoria’s busiest municipality for pedestrian & cycling activity. On an average day, 805,000 people come into the city & our daily population is set to reach 1 million in the next 10 years. As the city continues to grow, we need to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users.
In the 5 year period between January 2007 - December 2011:
2 cyclists &
6 motorcyclists were killed;
1103 cyclists &
658 motorcyclists were injured.
The Road Safety Plan will outline actions to enhance the safety of walking & cycling in Melbourne & prepare for the future growth of all travel modes. You’re invited to provide input to the development of the Plan by Monday 3 December 2012, to assist us in identifying the key issues, objectives & outcomes.
What safety issues concern you most when you are travelling in the City of Melbourne?
What changes would you like to see to improve safety for vulnerable road users (walkers, cyclists & motorcyclists)?
What do you consider to be the top three priorities for the Road Safety Plan? (Please explain your choices - why do you consider them to be important?)
Priority 1: ________
Priority 2: ________
