PARLIAMENT OPENS

Monday, February 3, 2014.

G'day everyone.

Luke (Shadow Roads Minister) gave me a call this morning about the anti-protest bill and the parliament. Tomorrow won't start till at least 2 pm and the Summary offences bill won't get a run till Wednesday or Thursday.

I can get in to parliament tomorrow afternoon for a bit.

I can do Wednesday but not Thursday.

Dale may have better info.

I'll put anything I get out to you as it comes in.

I have contacted my local MP Mr Peter Walsh.

Mallee region is his electorate he is based in Swan Hill.

I asked him to reject the changes to the Summary Offenses Act. 1966 based on the "Direction to Move" in Section d, f & h.

I'm also concerned about Section 6A & 6B & the exclusion order that can be imposed if a person attends more than a few protests & may fall into the exclusion category. It's totally draconian.

Many other points including telling plod who you are!

What if you haven't proven that a law has been breached!?

The Summary Offences Bill is having its second reading. last heard it was listed 4th on the list (moved from 7th). Tomorrow morning will be taken up by a great deal of protocol as both houses are to sit together to swear in new Member.

Victorians who are worried about the Summory Offences law should make an appointment to see their local MP to tell him/her that this kind of law is not acceptable in a free society and can be misused.
