TO THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF VICTORIA
The Summary Offences Amendment Bill will be before the Upper House again, for the final vote, on Tuesday, 11th of March, sometime after 3.30pm, and before 10pm.
The Independent Riders Group strongly opposes the anti-protest law. Labor has promised to repeal the law if it takes government in the November 2014 state election.
The IRG opposes this law because it can restrict freedom of expression, freedom of movement and because it can easily be misused against law-abiding Victorians.
In the "debate" in the Legislative Assembly Ken Smith MP made it frighteningly clear that he thought the changes to the Summary Offences bill would see people he clearly did not like "dragged off by police". Smith's rant demonstrated the darker side of this anti-protest law.
Labor, Green, Independent, and National Party members should vote against this change to our law.
The IRG is urging its' members and Victoria's 326,000 bike licence holders to contact their MPs and tell them we do not want this, or any VLAD type laws, in our state.

We urge the Nationals, or any Liberal Party members with a conscience, to vote NO to this change in the Summary Offences & Sentencing law.
Being an election year, LNP members in marginal seats should be very careful!!
